Complete maternity, obstetric and neonatal care from the start of pregnancy to 6 weeks following delivery.

WHAT WE DO

Maternity Care & Birth

We provide the full scope of maternity care services including prenatal care, nutrition counseling, ultrasound, laboratory testing, delivery, newborn and postpartum care.

Postpartum Care

Ongoing care following delivery is provided until six weeks postpartum includes natural family planning as well as pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical contraception.

Ultrasound

Routine and diagnostic ultrasounds are scheduled for you with one of our trusted radiology groups. Non-diagnostic ultrasound is available on-site.

Newborn Care

Ongoing assessment of your newborn from birth to six weeks of age includes all standard diagnostics, assessments, blood tests, social security number and birth certificate filings.

Childbirth Education

Natural childbirth classes for women seeking hospital, birth center or home deliveries. Everyone is welcome, you do not have to be our patient to attend.

Lactation Consultation

Direct, hands-on instruction at delivery as well as one-on-one visits during the postpartum phase to provide support and optimize lactation.

Most forms of insurance accepted including sharing plans and Medicaid

All routine blood tests collected on-site throughout care

Freedom of Movement

Studies show that women with the freedom to respond to their bodies’ need for movement and position changes labor more effectively. Movement facilitates the natural progression of labor and has a direct impact on how contractions are experienced. Related links

Nourishment

Consuming healthy foods throughout labor is vital to supporting a successful outcome. Mothers are encouraged to eat and drink during labor and postpartum recovery.

Mother-led

Autonomy, the right to decline procedures and to participate in decision making surrounding care and medications is a leading principal at Blessed Births. Though we always intervene when necessary to ensure patient safety, we believe it is a fundamental right for individuals to make decisions regarding their own healthcare.

Your Support System

We help you develop a personalized support system that fits your individual needs during your birth. You are welcome to have a partner, doula or family members present at your birth and to bring your own comforts of home such as linens, music, lighting or aromatherapy.

Our History

Blessed Births was founded as a home-birth practice in 1994 and established South Carolina’s first, independent birth center in 2000. We have served 1000s of women with our unique combination of modern medical practice and traditional expertise gleaned from the Amish communities of rural Pennsylvania. We staunchly believe in women’s rights to choice in childbirth and are proud to have played an integral role in impacting state legislation to protect these rights.
